Content Creator Gezile Mwale Faces Charges Over Alleged Obscene Online Videos
Social media personality Gezile Mwale, aged 23, has been taken into police custody after being accused of creating and sharing obscene content on social media.
According to Zambia Police Service spokesperson Godfrey Chilabi, the alleged incidents occurred between July 22 and July 27, 2026. During that period, Mwale is alleged to have participated in the production of explicit videos involving herself and other individuals, which were later circulated across various online platforms.
The matter was reported to the Anti-Cyber Crime Unit on July 27, prompting an investigation carried out in collaboration with the Zambia Cyber Security Agency. The inquiry led to Mwale’s identification and subsequent arrest.
Police say investigations are continuing, as several other suspected participants have not yet been located. Efforts to trace and apprehend them remain underway.
Mwale has since been formally charged and is expected to appear before the courts. She remains in police custody as legal proceedings begin.
Authorities have also reminded the public that the creation, distribution, possession, and publication of obscene material are criminal offences under Zambian law.
